Hey there—I'm Eduardo Hernandez. I'm a grade school teacher, a fiction writer, a military veteran, and a long-distance runner with a 50k race on the horizon this October. I got licensed to teach in Oregon, but lately I’ve been feeling the pull to take what I do on the road—working with different communities, learning from new places, and seeing what kind of growth comes from movement.

Right now, my sights are set on New Orleans for Fall 2025. I’ll be teaching, writing, and hopefully performing a bit more stand-up comedy while I’m there. Wherever I go, the goal stays the same: connect, learn, and create.

This site—Casa del Viento—is where it all comes together. A little house in the wind, built from story drafts, lesson plans, long runs, weird dreams, real conversations, and all the unexpected turns along the way. Think of it as my personal studio and dispatch board: the place where I share what I’m working on, what I’m thinking about, and what I’m still figuring out.

You’ll find fiction projects in progress, essays, classroom tools, policy reflections, updates from the road, and whatever else feels worth sharing. I’m not trying to be everything to everyone—I just want this to be an honest, living collection of the work I care about.

Hola —soy Eduardo Hernandez. Soy maestro de primaria, escritor de ficción, veterano militar y corredor de larga distancia con una carrera de 50 km en el horizonte este octubre. Obtuve mi licencia para enseñar en Oregón, pero últimamente he sentido el llamado de llevar lo que hago a otras comunidades—trabajar con diferentes personas, aprender de nuevos lugares y ver qué tipo de crecimiento nace del movimiento.

En este momento, tengo la mirada puesta en Nueva Orleans para el otoño de 2025. Allí estaré enseñando, escribiendo, y con suerte también haciendo un poco más de comedia en vivo. A donde sea que vaya, la meta sigue siendo la misma: conectar, aprender y crear.

Este sitio—Casa del Viento—es donde todo se junta. Una casita en el viento, construida con borradores de historias, planes de clase, carreras largas, sueños raros, conversaciones reales y todos esos giros inesperados del camino. Piénsalo como mi estudio personal y tablero de anuncios: el lugar donde comparto lo que estoy haciendo, lo que estoy pensando y lo que todavía estoy descubriendo.

Aquí encontrarás proyectos de ficción en desarrollo, ensayos, herramientas educativas, reflexiones sobre políticas, actualizaciones del camino y cualquier otra cosa que sienta que vale la pena compartir. No pretendo ser todo para todos—solo quiero que esto sea una colección honesta y viva del trabajo que realmente me importa.
